Sunshine, sports, cotton candy, and lots of love with the Good Fairies
Children from six children´s homes set off for a weekend full of games and new experiences with the Good Fairies. These stays traditionally take place at Jizbice.
Most of the children already knew the fairies, but some set off for the first time. Questions like "what are we going to do here, we don't know anyone" were buzzing at the beginning. However, at the end of the weekend, nobody wanted to go home. "I didn't know what to expect, but I really liked it here and I would like to come again," Vaneska from the children´s home in Boršov nad Vltavou confided. For three girls from southern Bohemia, it was their first experience with the fairies, and they were thrilled. Then came a beautiful message from the director. "Our three girls returned from the weekend under the Blaník with enthusiasm. They really enjoyed it, thank you," he wrote.
The program was packed as always. Boys and girls played soccer, basketball, and plenty of other sports activities. Our volunteers also enjoyed balls and bats. "I've never played so many ball sports in such a short time," laughed our volunteer coordinator, Barča.
In addition to sports, Domča and Honza from Modern Self-Defense came to visit us to show the children how to defend themselves against bullying or unfamiliar adults on the street.
The rest of the weekend was filled with games, crafting, painting, a music circle, and an evening disco, as usual. An amazing sweet treat was provided by fairy Karolína, who brought a cotton candy machine. Spinning cotton candy entertained both adults and children for a few hours, and the children were overjoyed with the sugary treat.
The weekend was a success, and the sunny weather made it feel more like a summer camp. The children had the opportunity to experience something new outside of their everyday lives, meet children from other children´s homes, understand that they are not alone, and experience the love and attention of the Good Fairies.
